Copal Oro
3" x 2" 1oz bag of Copal Oro Resin.
Copal Oro is golden in color and is very bright and clean smelling. This is a standard in Mexico, South and Central America for purification. Copal Oro has a sweeter, more complex smell than some of the other copals.
Crystallized copal resin chunks (from tree resin) is a natural incense from Meso America, and is generally placed on a burning charcoal briquette which produces a thick, sweet smoke. You then brush the smoke over yourself, items or a space. Copal is traditionally burned for cleansing, purification and protection.
Copal is sacred to the indigenous cultures of the Central and South Americas. It is burned year round in the churches in Mexico, but is best known for its use in the homes during Day of the Dead. It is said that the familiar scent of Copal helps the souls find their way back during their annual visit home.
To use incense, ignite a charcoal tablet, and place in a heat-proof container. The incense and smudge bowls below work wonderfully when filled with sand or earth.
